about me
I’m Julie - a California native who has spent the last 15 years forging an international career in wine and spirits. My focuses have included education, brand strategy, digital content, business development, media relations, and journalism. From my early days in retail & distribution sales to my recent roles as Head of Wine Education for Bright Cellars and the Education Programming & Marketing Manager for WSET Americas, I’ve explored the ins & outs of the industry from multiple angles. I continue to learn and leverage my experience to build brands and educate consumers on how to love what they taste.
In addition to being a WSET Certified Educator in both wine & spirits, I have designed and built education courses for clients across the US and Europe. My expertise has also been commissioned by wine startups for app development and UX strategy. Additionally, I’ve served as a judge for globally recognized competitions such as Decanter World Wine Awards, International Wine Challenge, Women’s Wine & Spirits Awards, San Diego International Spirits Competition, American Distilling Institute, and as a panelist for the Slow Wine awards.
My media relations and marketing efforts have secured local, national, and international coverage for a wide range of clients from wine brands to cocktail robotics and restaurants to beauty food. Notable outlets include Forbes, Esquire, Robb Report, BBC, Wine Spectator, Decanter, Bloomberg, San Francisco Chronicle, Eater, Wine Enthusiast, and more.
The former Editor-in-Chief of Drink Me Magazine, my journalistic works have also been published in Decanter Magazine, Harpers Wine & Spirit, The Drinks Business, THE PRESS (San Francisco Chronicle), The Flaviar Times, Liquor.com, SevenFifty Daily, Whisky Advocate, Chilled Magazine, SOMA Magazine, and more.
But what it all comes down to is my undeniable love for wine and spirits. My passion for this industry always has and always will lead me to seek the most compelling stories about lesser-known regions, categories, varieties, and producers. With these, my aim is to continue guiding consumers on how to truly understand their palate and fully experience the intricacies of taste.
